Hello again,
Having had the treatment and first follow up appointment after treatment it felt like we deserved a holiday! Well that was before I checked out travel insurance, given my husband also has some medical issues the first quote for 1 week abroad came in at over £800. I did not know whether to laugh or cry, I said to the woman I was speaking to "we could forget the insurance and take a Doctor with us for that sort of cost". I called around and found the best option was through Insurewith 0333 005 1066. Was on the phone for nearly an hour going through all of the questions, depressing.
I did feel bitter and twisted for a couple of days, it makes a normal holiday abroad out of reach at a time when you feel you really need one.
Then about a week later my husband has a heart attack, in hospital with a stent fitted. You could not make our health experience this year any worse. He's on the mend and now and made lifestyle changes which can only help.
So that put any thought of a holiday abroad out of the window. In future we may just rely on the new UK European Health Insurance Card. We're going to Cornwall in November instead, I think it was Billy Connolly who said there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes!
All in all I feel fine, I have my follow up call at the end of November and then a scan in February so just getting on with life in the meantime.
Much love.
