I don't get chat either.. its too fast for me. I think some get the hang of it and love it, I prefer it over here with slowness to type.
Blogs are to just say whatever you want to say... all sorts come out. (mine are usually just very very silly- be warned)
You will find your way around and find your groups etc. They have just changed the site so we are all a bit lost at the moment so don't worry if it takes a bit of time for people to find you and make friends etc we are all stumbling in the dark a bit at the moment.
I do know another peritoneal cancer. She is lovely and funny too I will point her to you...
