wot a day

1 minute read time.
Just a short note of yesterdays events for first chemo, arrived at 7.45am blood tests 9.30am, 10.30am 2 attempts at putting in cannula by this time i was feeling faint, sick, went very pale & my blood pressure had dropped to 70/40 had to call the doctor was told to take a rest & once my blood pressure was back to normal they then would attempt to put in the cannula 11.30am matron arrived to put in the cannula SUCCESS. Hope this isn't going to happen every time by I have been assured by the nurses it shouldn't 12.00 arrived was led to my bed with the IV. Drank & peeded a lot to check kidneys are working ok. 3.30 had to go for radiotherapy got back to ward 4.45pm just in time for tea. Feeling tired by this time 7.30pm hubby arrived to take me home. Got home at 8.15pm . Sorry for not getting in touch sooner, after the long day yesterday all I could think about was sleep. Tried to blog this morning but probs with Microsoft Internet Explorer due to a virus. Had to go for radiotherapy this afternoon, appointments running late.Got back home had a nap. Eventually able to send a blog. Last couple of days not smooth running been told by others this is the norm & not to worry. Best go now hubby home from work. regards Sue

I'm at St James's Leeds Bexley Wing, forgot to mention hands were put in warm water no probs in veins coming up but getting blood flowing. I am in the day unit and they have told me to expect to be there for about 8hrs. I have stage 2b cervical cancer so have to have 28  radiotherapy  treatments Monday to Friday with Wednesdays being my normal day for chemo. Surgery not an option at this time. Only side effects at the moment are feeling tired but i'm taking the anti-sickness tablets they gave me early days yet!!!

    regards
