Hi,
I have been sent a rather interesting, but slightly doubtful report from a friend today, with regards to Asparagus and it properties. It claims that there are certain substances in it that can reduce cancer cell counts?
Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth. It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body's most potent anticarcinogens and antioxidants. It is recommended that you have 4 Table spoonfuls of fresh cooked or of canned asparagus twice a day. I just wonder if any body has heard of this or read about it??
Mick&Sue x ps i was sent case reports but to long to write up.
