A catch up post - 8 years now

1 minute read time.

Thought it was worth popping back to Update again.

I'm over 8 years since treatment but still being seen every 6 months because of the osteoradionecrosis in the lower left jaw where the radio therapy was targeted. The tooth that was wobbly got loose and looser over the time since I last posted and came out in the autumn last year.  That was followed by a small piece of dead bone. The hole it left seems clean now and and has partially covered its self but is still a hole.

It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would but the problem now js that the next tooth is starting to move. It's on the end with nothing to support it on the left side. I really try to avoid biting with my front teeth now.

I've been referred to the maxi facial person who makes replacements for the mouth ( not sure what his official title is) and am going next week in the hope they will be able to make something to go where things were removed to protect the front lower teeth. The problem is there is nothing for them to fit over in the lower left as the jaw bone was shaved back.

Fingers crossed. Other than that all still well. Eating normally ( in fact had to join slimming world I've been eating so well!)

Will post an update after the next appointment in the hope it helps anyone else suffering with the after effects of RT.
