    It has been a difficult week for all  warriors  with the loss of Debbie Brewer who was such an inspiration to so many. News also of other losses, some only in their forties with young families and our thoughts are with them. The devastation of this disease is felt by so many. I know you can’t measure one cancer against another but more people die of mesothelioma than cervical cancer each year , yet it seems to be below…

    For the third year in a row, UCLA and the Pacific Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of Los Angeles organized a symposium focused on lung-sparing therapies for patients dealing with difficult-to-treat malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM).

    A short while ago, I was contacted by Susan Vento whose husband Bruce - a serving congressman for the state of Minnesota - died as a result of mesothelioma.  Susan is a spokesperson for the Asbestos Cancer Victims Rights Campaign (ACVRC).

    This is a study in second line treatment for patients with advanced mesothelioma who have been pre-treated with no more than one pemetrexed (aka Alimta) based chemotherapy regime.  It's currently recruiting in Manchester, Maidstone, Leicester, Northwood, Glasgow, Sutton and London.
