the calm before the storm

2 minute read time.
Yesterday was shaping up to be another lazy day until I got my sizeable butt in gear mid-afternoon and brought the accounts up to date - 6 hours work but really pleased it's out of the way and all the little bits of paper are off my desk! Also caught up with a ton of laundry and cleaned the kitchen. Then caught up on emails including one from a work friend who wanted to meet up sometime this week. Leaving it a bit late but I rang to see if she was free today and she was - Tuesday is Results Day and I didn't know how I'd feel the rest of the week... Started watching Unforgiven last night (Clint Eastwood) but fell asleep half way through... Today I woke up at 5am and thought I'm not getting up yet. Eventually went back to sleep then woke clutching my mobile at 9am - I'd set the alarm on it so it must have gone off but I don't remember it - typical, the one time I need it in 8 months I sleep through! Got ready in about 10 minutes - this is where the wig comes into its own, haha. No more hairdryers / dripping on the car seats etc - a quick rub with the towel and away we go! My third solo drive in that 8 months (OH "Aren't you going in DS's car?!?" with a slightly desperate glance towards 'ours') and it was great - I love the drive over the moor to Teesside. Anyway, spent 4 hours chating on, having lunch and being introduced to her lovely daughter (nearly 2 years) - it went so fast. An hour drive home again. I'm glad it worked out today because a) got to see a friend b) didn't spend the day 'stewing' at home c) hopefully the excitement will have worn me out and I'll sleep tonight (feel like a 2 year old myself at times!) d) I didn't snap at OH about anything - we had a 'moment' last night. Something to do with Tesco Direct delivering to this store or that store for free delivery- ye gods... Just had a laugh making smoothies with DSs and their mate - very nice. Just got some invoices to stuff into envelopes now then maybe to bed to watch something or read - just starting the Kite Runner as kids are studying it for their A level English in September. Loved the film so hoping the book will be better... sleep well xx
