Karen's Catch-Up #7

3 minute read time.

So on Monday…

…the plumber came and fitted new boiler and we’ll be able to light the fire tomorrow night. I had to spend the day in/on bed because it was the warmest place. Started watching the Gavin & Stacey boxed set I’d got for my birthday and mooched about the ‘net. Still can’t concentrate properly to read - find myself reading the same bit over and over again even if I’m enjoying the book.Still can’t concentrate properly to read - find myself reading the same bit over and over again even if I’m enjoying the book. Change of job beckons if this doesn’t change. Eit.her that or teach Nursery (joke, debs, joke :D) Lower back was twingeing (is that a word?!). I put it down to being sat at a pc for a few hours on Sunday-next to the living room door which no-one knew how to close behind them…

Tuesday…

…came and still no-one had been in touch to arrange the weekly flush of the Hickman Line so I rang the day unit. Living room was covered with dust from the drilling of the fireplace so P and I went off to a supermarket (my first visit since the Summer!) whilst the boys cleaned up the living room. Very good of them to volunteer, haha. Needed a couple of new tyres on the car so while they were being fitted we went to the Sainsbury’s 20 yards away. Pete’s got his own supermarket ‘system’ now :D I just wandered round chucking random stuff in when we met up…bought the latest Harry Potter for £7 (2-disc edition only 29p more than Amazon if anyone cares…) just because I wanted to watch something new that night. It seems if you’ve read the book, the film’s rubbish and if you haven’t read the book, the film’s good?!? Was really sleepy in the car on the way home. Too much excitement.

Later that afternoon, my consultant rang to ask if I could come in the next morning to have line flushed and bloods taken as he’d forgotten to leave the message with the outreach team. Very apologetic and it needs to be done so needs must. Takes care of Pete’s day though. Watched a ‘most’ interesting OU experiment on DVD to do with yeast and boiling water with the boys as part of their science course. Very odd camera angles - the guy didn’t look straight into camera throughout. Saw his ear hairs (both sides), his ear-ring (one side) and the top of his head mostly. Put Harry Potter on and fell asleep 10 minutes in so will reserve judgement, haha.

Wednesday

Environmental Health lady came out to get samples of water to test - takes a week for the results to come back so sticking with bottled for now. I have had a bath though J . Just as we were leaving for hospital, Radiotherapy people rang. They want me to go in tomorrow (Thursday) for planning session. So 11am appointment and it’ll take an hour or so. Then there’s a checking session on the 18th December and treatment starts on 21st. Don’t know how Xmas affects things - will find out tomorrow. We’d also asked for early afternoon appointments because of the weather. If it gets really icy, we’ll struggle to get up the hill near our house but by lunchtime, it’s usually melted enough for us to get out. We also don’t want to be driving back in the dark. We’re quite high up so it’s like a different country sometimes :D. Anyway, message hadn’t been passed on (what is it with consultants and messages?!?) so we’ll sort that out tomorrow.

My line was flushing alright but not giving up very easily. Got there in the end but when results came back my platelet level was only 89 so they wanted to repeat it. Got it out of my arm first time today - these days my veins scarper at the first sign of trouble! Second reading was 223 so maybe first sample had been diluted or somethingJ . Relieved at not having to stay for a bag of platelets. Much prefer chips.

Went to Whitby to see a couple of friends but one had a cold so stayed away from her L . She was printing some tickets for a gig my 2 are promoting so I had fish & chips (going off them now, lol) and we wandered round a bit in the mist and dark. Bumped into a guy who owed us some dosh and he paid up. Hurray! However, paid for car MOT which was twice what we thought it would be. Booo! Got home and ‘helped’ with boys’ Law assignments and their clothes shopping J .

nite all xx
