Thursday 3rd December Plumber came back and sorted water - trouble is it's all brown. It's going to take a while to flow through. In the meantime, I don't trust it to wash in never mind drink. Wet wipes and bottled water for now. We rang environmental health and someone's coming out to test it next Wednesday. We have a spring supply and the plumber’s been looking at the junctions and piping in to the house - think a fair bit is going to be replaced which is great long-term. Boiler's being replaced on Monday and we can relight the fire on Tuesday night. Not long then. My wig is coming into its own - it usually gets way too hot for me but at the moment it’s just the job. Rang Dad to cancel his trip next week - you forget that people just don't know the potential consequences of infections. Spelt it out anyway and we'll think about it in a few weeks when he's over his flu. Then off to hospital again to meet the Radiotherapy Consultant. We’d managed to get a cancellation so appointment changed from 3.30 to 2pm - his first patient. Great - no waiting around we thought. 2.50 came and nurse came to apologise - someone hadn’t checked the diary blah blah blah… So he came in, introduced himself and asked how I was - the usual questions. Then he told me that having looked at the scan it would be 3 weeks treatment! I’d been told 4-6 so of course asked him if he was sure - durr! I also mentioned that the fact that there’s still plenty to go at (10 x 3) whilst studying his face for any signs of fibbing, haha. He told me I was nowhere near getting the prize for biggest tumour he’s dealt with so I am really excited now! After 9 months of softly softly catchy monkey chemo, we’re now going to really Blitz It, haha!! Side effects to expect are nausea because it’s in the abdomen (tabs to deal with that), red skin (cream to deal with that), fatigue as the treatment goes on. I asked him about lymphodoema but he said that wouldn’t be a problem. If anyone remembers when the original Space Invaders games came out - that’s how I’m imagining it - zapping one of the asteroids:D. I would like to know where it all goes though - what happens to it? I will ask. Anyway, they think the week after next for it all to begin. Like I said, today I’m excited! xx
