good news/bad news

1 minute read time.

What another day on Monday at the hospital:  Very early start to get to the Marsden by 9.00am for the EDTA test, followed final bloods at 12.30 then over to the Brompton for the MUGA at 1.45pm, so lots of time to kill in between.  Fortunately (after initially denying we had an appointment) the hospital were able to bring forward hubby's ultrasound scan and joy of joys, we got the results from the registrar before 12.30.

Even the experts are puzzled - there were originally three tumours in the abdomen, one large and two small ones.  One of the smaller ones has gone - which is amazing news, the others are not growing and are appearing softer (whatever that means).  The doctors are perplexed as to why the liver tumour should appear bearing in mind how well the chemo seems to be working, so they have decided to let hubby complete cycle 3 and rescan in the middle of December, and then dependent on the results discuss further treatment.  So it is 6 steps forward and 3 back!!!!

The registrar was adamant that we did not panic, and seemed pretty laid back, so that is the path to follow!

Today we got a letter from one of the admitting doctors when hubby first went into hospital for the emergency op way back in March, asking for his permission to have a paper relating to his very rare cancer published in a medical journal - fame indeed, although not quite the type we would have wished for!

So back to the waiting game.......
