Work load after lumpectomy grade 1

Less than one minute read time.
Hiyall, I am self-employed working from home on a computer, so nothing too physically straining. Luckily I have plenty of work plenty of work at the moment. These are mostly small research/writing assignments easy to move around, but I don't want to let my clients down. My grade 1 lumpectomy op is on 30 Sept. How long would you say before I can get out of the house and sit in a conference for the day? I know we are all different, but I would like to take it easy without losing too much business. As other posts said, work also keeps me sane. I also will have friends/family to help for a few days and am in good form now, but I'd like to attend a meeting the following week - & days after the op. Is that realistic? Thanks for your advice.

Oooh thats a tough one, as you say we are all different.  I had a mastectomy was out the next day and stayed with family for a few days, I felt fine but I was told I shouldn't lift or drive until I could do an emergency stop without any pain or discomfort.  I was driving after two weeks I think, which was quicker than they thought.

So I think it probably depends, on how you are feeling, how far you have to travel to the conference, how you are going to get there and if you have carry anything.

Hope that helps a little, but have a chat to  your breastcare nurse.

    Take care

I had a lumpectomy grade 1 in December last. I had the operation on Thursday and was back at work the following Monday. However as you say we are all different. I behaved myself for a few days and didn't drive but I think after about ten days I went back to driving. It's true about the emergency stop so if you have any pain with eg your seat belt don't do it as your insurance could be null and void if you do have an accident. At least that was what I heard. I do a lot of stretching in my job but as long as I was careful it wasn't a problem. The only problem was when I was at home and leaned over athe arm of a chair to lift a cup of coffee. Ouch!! I didn't do that again!

    You'll be fine. xx

Thanks Carol and Gray for your helpful comments. It is all really encouraging. I do not have to drive for work and am doing all the heavy lifting that is needed around the house while I can before the op. Luckily the op is on the left side and am right handed so won't be tempted to use the arm for lifting my coffee mug. Love and sunshine to all xx
