Robotic prostatectomy and a speedy recovery

Less than one minute read time.
My husband had robotic surgery for the removal of his prostate gland. He had early stage prostate cancer (Gleason 6) PSA 5. It's amazing how he has recovered so quickly - back at work part time after 3 weeks! In terms of continence he is pretty much dry now - just the odd leak if he goes too long between loo trips! The surgeon was able to preserve nerves so we're hoping for improvements in erections soon. He goes back to Addenbrookes next week for his 6 week check up. At the time he felt surgery was a drastic decision but is not the sort of person who would have wanted to undergo regular biopsies and PSA tests and worrying each time if the PSA had risen or the cancer had spread. As he says - he's fixed!! The treatment at Addenbrookes was fantastic and it was sheer luck that we had read an article in the Times last year where Professor Neal was being interviewed about the use of the Da Vinci robot to treat prostate cancer. We feel very lucky!!
