constipation

Hi there I wonder if anyone can advise me on constipation...( not nice i know..but im desperate )..im usually as regular as clockwork but since chemo last friday i havent been able to...well i know..lol...ive took senna..lactulose..which usually does the trick...n even desperate enough to ask my dr for Movicol...which i cudnt keep down...i vomited it straight back..i feel heavy tired n uncomfortable...has any one got an other remedies i cud try??...thank you...     Thank you all very much for ur very sound advise re my problem..lol..im happy to say the situation is starting to resolve itself at the moment...maybe the cocktail of laxatives ive taken has finally merged together...but thank you again for taking the time to reply with your remedies...ive taken them all on board n will definitely stock up with them before my next cycle....love from a happy relieved Sharon xx

    Just one more thing I thought I'd mention Sharon. Stout (sweet or otherwise) and Guinness were recommended to me by my Macmillan nurse.  Worth a try if you like them, I suppose.

    Oooohhhh...thanx Christine...im half irish...im sure id manage a Guinness or 3...purely medicinal of course...lol...thanx everyone for ur good advice n tips...il use them all...especially Christines...lol.. love Sharon xxxx

    Hi Sharon,

    This was a major bugbear for me. I took all stuff offered by chemo team the day of chemo and for five days after. 20mls lactolose morning and evening and three co-damthramer capsules (the max) every day (sometimes only needed two by day five- worked like a dream and i avoided the dreaded movicol.

    The chemo nurses provided evrything to take home on chemo day. Also ate lots of fruitcake and lentil pie !!!! Hope next time is better.
