Today didn't go to plan

Less than one minute read time.

Went for my hospital appt today after finding a lump in my breast approx 3 weeks ago.  Doctor examined me and said I needed a mammogram and an ultrasound then he would speak to me about the results.  Well when I got back to see the Doctor, he said the lump which he thought was innocent didn't look that way on the tests and that I would need a biopsy.  Had two biopsies done and the Doctor said to me that she thinks it's Cancer.  We chatted about it and she said I will have to go back next week for the results of my biopsies.

SO NOW IT'S ROLL ON NEXT WEDNESDAY!  :)

they sure did a lot for you in one day....an ultra sound, two biopsy`s and they got the results back from the biopsys...what hospital did you go to, the one i went to for my biopsys on lumps in my neck took nearly 3 weeks to get the results back !

ignore what your doc said....they shouldnt say they think its cancer.....they should wait till they know if it is cancer...or if its not....

    hopefully it wont be cancer...

BLOODY HELL..new glasses and i cant read.....

    ignore last post.....

but really your doc should not be saying she / he  thinks its cancer when she / he has NOT got the biopsy results back....

she / he could put you through so much stress, only to find out its NOT cancer

sure hope its not.....your doc shouldnt be making statements like that till she / he knows for sure what the results are..

    good luck...

Hi Scoobs - you have a bit of a wait on your hands don't you. In my hospital they do the triple test - mammogram - ultrasound - needle biopsy on same day with results 40 minutes after! They may do a further 'core biopsy' if those tests look suspicious but the needle biopsy results are the ones that decide as they will have seen cancer cells under the microscope. I suggest you take a friend or partner with you next week and have a set of prepared questions - get your friend/partner to ask the questions for you if necessary and also write down the answers. If they tell you it is cancer you may well switch off mentally and not remember much of the conversation (this is normal!!) so having someone with you is a bonus - and if they say it isnt cancer then you can go offwith your friend/partner to celebrate - if it is cancer then you have a supporter with you to look after you and be your eyes and ears during the consultation. Wishing you all the luck in the world, hang tight and let us know how you get on. Hugs Jools xxxx

    Hi Scoobs,

I agree with Jools, my experience was the same. I took my partner who asked all the "proper" questions while I was babbling about being able to go on holiday, still go to the gym and more importantly if I had to stop drinking!  Ian had to tell me the answers to the real questions the following day when it had sunk in a bit more.

Hope you dont need us, but we are always here for support x  Let us know how things go

    Love and hugs Fiona

You made me laugh.  New glasses and can't read ha ha.. Thanks for your comments.  I know you're right, the Dr shouldn't have said anything really, but i'm kind of glad she did as I prefer to look on the side of the worst case scenario to cope with the outcome.  Thanks again.

    Jools

Thanks for your comments.  Your hospital sounds fab... 40 mins for the results of a needle biopsy.... fantastic.  My hubby is with me throughout all of this, and he will be there tomorrow.  I mentioned what you said and we are thinking about some questions, and I'll make sure I have a pen and notepad with me.  Good advice :)

Thanks for your comments.  I'm hoping I don't need any of you (in the nicest way possible of course!!!!) but I'll be sure to let you know how I get on tomorrow.

    Thanks again everyone.  It's great to share :) x x x x
