First Appointment with Oncologist!! Today

1 minute read time.

Well went to my first Appointment Today and feel better now i know what i am dealing with, basically i had lung cancer six and half years ago Adenoma Carcinoma it is now as far as we know in my lymphnodes in neck, So i have to have a pet scan first to see if has spread anywhere else and a ct scan of the head to make sure not in brain as it is in the neck, as soon as i have pet scan i will be having chemo at the QE Hospital in Birmingham i will have to stay in overnight to have it,  i think he said 3 cycles then chemo inconjuction with radiotherapy, he said it cannot be cured but that they can control it and halt it !

So at least i know what is going on the specialist nurse said that  i will deinitly lose my hair so she said the lady who does the wigs is coming tommorow so she can see me with my own hair ! quite fancy extensions !!!  lol  so thats it so far !!  They said the chemo im having is quite aggresive so not looking foreard to it he said some people are ok some not, the nurse said he thinks im a "goer" i said what does he mean ? she said he thinks you will do well as i am apart from the cancer fit and healthy!! Dont think ive ever been called a "goer" before !!! lol  So let the battle commence !!!!  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

All systems go isn't it - which is good really as it means action is being taken. Bit similar to my sister as hers has come back in the lymph in the neck (after 5 years). Whirlwind of aggressive treatment to bat this into oblivion for a good while. Onco & others are good and tell you quite straight, but also give you positive 'vibes' to make the treatment worthwhile. With the nurses experience I think they can spot 'goers' quite well as those that have the attitude etc to cope with what you gets thrown at you. Swords brandished and best of luck in the battle - just remember you aren't alone and the soldiers here are behind you all the way. Hopefully I'm my sisters soldier in a way.
