    Hi Sallie,

You are obviously new to this site and I'm sorry you have had to join us but you will get help and support from others on the site. Can I suggest you are much more likely to get positive responses to your questions if you put more about yourself, your treatment etc. on your Profile Page and also ask more detailed questions. You seem to have put all of your question in the title rather than precising it to a bite-size chunk. I know there are some members who have had recons and I will send a pm to one that I know and ask her to contact you.

    Best wishes,

I had a recon last year, 3 years after my mastectomy. I found it so uncomfy at first. I think it was the fact that it was so hard compared to my natural breast. It seemed to be in the way if that makes any sense.  Unfortunately my implant was faulty and caused an abccess, which meant having it all taken out.

Although I am getting it redone this Oct, I must say,I was quite happy with no breast I just didnt like being lopsided. My first idea was to have the other one removed which my surgeon agreed to do. But friends talked me into seeing the plastic surgeon and so i came away having agreed to a recon.

I do not like the feeling i am left with where my back scar is. Had i realised how uncomfy that was going to be and how big the scar is , then i would have thought about it a bit longer.

No boob was easy. No discomfort and only one scar. Mind you, I was not offered an instant recon which at the time did'nt bother me. I feel sure that now I have more scaring than I would have had.

Having come this far i feel there is no going back so am looking forward to getting it all sorted and put behind me.

What is it you find uncomfortable?  If you had it removed, would you have the other one removed as well?

Have you spoken to your breast care nurse?

Keep intouch, if there is anything we can help with, just ask.

    lol

I too have had a back flap recon and like Debs wasn't quite prepared for the discomfort the back bit caused.  As well as the muscle from the back I had an implant.  This developped "capsules" following the RT (I had an immediate recon) which makes the breast feel really tight.

Do you recall that pratt on Britains Got Talent who inflated a hot water bottle?  Thats how my skin feels sometimes.

I have just had a nipple reconstructed and the doctor today said they may be able to disperse the capsules but it is more surgery/scarring  and a GA so am going to see the surgeon about it to weigh up options when I get the stitches out of the noo nip on 4th Septemer.

Can only suggest you talk to your surgeon?  Do PM if you have any other queries or send me your no and I would be happly to talk to you.

    Good luck
