Dads journey

1 minute read time.

Thought I would give you an update on dad. It has spread to his spine and he is doing so well. His brother is arriving today so dad is very happy about that but I can see lots of tears when he leaves.  Its his birthday on the 3 november and I dont know what to buy him any suggestions? I did ask dad and he said he just wants to be alive. It was so sad to hear him say that but I always put a brave face for dad. Poor mum goes for long walks and just cries her eyes out. I feel so sorry for them as the one thing I cant give them is good health to dad.

He seems to have more bad  days than good days but he looking good today. Maybe its because his brother is coming. I hope he has a nice day. He is on a patch and liquid morphine but has been very sick with it so they have given him more meds. Im sure dad could open up a pharmacy.I understand now when we take one dady at a time as you dont know what the next day brings. x

Thanks for all the kind words. I think this sit keeps us going. Dad lasted longer than i thought. Its amazing how much a person take when they are looking forward to something. Tiggs the patch has helped dad alot but he also takes other pain relief 3 times a day. I was thinking of doing a photo for dad and thanks claire for Stoke bruerne but not sure how able he will be then as he cant stand for too long. My husband is going to take the day off and we will play it by ear and see how he is on the day. John you are right I will ask mum what she wants to do.The only thing that worries me now is dad has been choking on his food the last 3 days and i think it might be the tumor growing. We knew this would happen and he is eating very little as he is always full. I will ask dad if he wants a stent in. Have  any of you known  anyone who has had that done and has it helped? Going to go and take the kids to visit dad now. Take care xx

Hi my husband had a stent fitted after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.  He couldn't eat anything and after having it done he could eat almost normally,  We were advised that some patients have some pain after the procedure but he had none.  Hope this helps and wish you and your dad all the best.
