feeling kind of numb to life right now

Less than one minute read time.

I had Ivor-Lewis surgery 2008 and symptoms are back, don't really want to deal with this again.

  • Hi Ronnie

Welcome to the Mac site where you’ll meet some really friendly and supportive people.  I see you’ve also posted in the oesophageal group where you’ll find patients at various stages of treatments and/ or their carers.  I too had the Ivor Lewis surgery and can understand very well what you’ve been through.  If you click on people’s photos you can read their profiles.

It’s unclear from your blog whether the symptoms have definitely been confirmed as a recurrence or whether you just feel that it’s a possibility.  I only mention this because some of the recovery side effects, even many months on, seem to mimic the initial symptoms, such as difficulty in swallowing, pain and so forth and these can be dealt with fairly easily.  Many of us post-surgery know very well that there’s a chance of the cancer returning, so we can empathise with you and know how you’ll be feeling.  The main thing is that there are treatments available that can bring it under control and the value of this site is that almost everyone will know what you’re going through, so can help with support and info.

Stay focussed and strong and let us know how you get on.

    Love and hugs

    Crystal xx
