Has anyone cut their radiotheraphy short......................

Less than one minute read time.
Hi I was just wondering if anyone had or knew of anyone who cut their radiotheraphy treatment short or had it stopped? I'm not coping as well as I feel that I should be with the treatment to my bladder & am trying to find out the impact of not continuing with it for the full 20 treatments. I've had 15 of 20 but now missed 3 days as I've been in quite a bit of pain & feeling unwell & haven't found or been prescribed any effective pain relief etc. Travel has been difficult with the pain etc (hospital is an hr away from my home) & I've been waiting for my consultant to call me. Just not sure what to do ??????

Hello there - sorry, I can't help with regards stopping radiotherapy sessions before the full cycle being completed. I do know I had to cut short on chemotherapy sessions - should've been four, but they stopped mine after three. It seems my body was struggling to recover from the effects of it. This apparently wasn't to my detriment, it was just the way it worked out. I mean after the second chemo, they could not see the original tumour. I only had 5 radiotherapy zaps to the head - in case cancer tried to sneak in there, but even after 5, I was shattered, so I can hardly imagine how you are feeling. They must have cancer care nurses who are attached to your hospital; you could ring them, and ask for their advice - they're normally very good. Someone needs to be told of how wretched you are feeling, so you must let someone at the hospital/or your GP aware of your symtoms, ok? I'm so sorry I couldn't offer you more help, but I do hope it's not long until you get to talk to somenone about all of this, and that you will soon make a good recovery, with lotsa love           kate xxxxxxxxxx
