I heard that even after you finish the RT sessions the radiotherapy continues to work for some considerable timecan anyone confirm this please

My husband has now been diagnosed with secondries lymph node in the neck for which he has received 5 days radiation but nothing can be done fo the secondries in the lung, he is 83 and in quite weak state the oncologist siad chemo would have less than 50% success and would give him severe side effects I have been told that they now have to try and keep him pain free and keep his quality of life as he cant be cured
