I have a 20 year old son, Ben, and what follows was inspired by events when he was 16. Stripping away the poetic overtones, the gist of the dialogue took place via emails, over about 2 months.
*******************************************************************
"We have come a long way since your birth, my Son"
"Yes Father"
"And you have enjoyed your time as a Child ?"
"Indeed Father, I have many friends and good memories"
"The Child that you were has changed, but it is still with you"
"Yes, Father"
"A Child cannot rule a Mans Life, it would lessen the Man"
"I know Father, but I feel it struggling within me"
"You must allow the emerging Man within you to take control, my Son"
"It is hard for me sometimes Father, the Child is still strong"
"I understand my Son, like you I was not born a Man"
"Soon you will be seen by the World as a Man, my Son, are you ready for that ?"
"I am strong and tall now Father, I think I am ready"
"The World will expect more of you my Son, and so will I"
"I will do my best Father"
"I will always be with you my Son, but take the Child with you, too"
"Father ?"
"It will provide you, and others, with Refuge, Balance and Pleasure. Take care of it my Son, your children will enjoy its company"
