PET SCAN

Less than one minute read time.
Just an update on my dad: He had his laparoscopy last week and they seem happy, surgeon says he is confident it is 99.9% curative. Tomorrow I have to take him for a PET Scan? Then on Friday he has an appointment at the Beatson in Glasgow, no doubt to discuss all their findings and work out a treatment plan? We only found out two weeks ago about his cancer and since then it has been a whirlwind of tests and appointments and thats BEFORE any treatment starts! All our lives are on hold for the moment, it seems (so far) they just phone you one day and ask if you can go to the hospital the next.....has anyone else experienced that? I know that's a good thing as they are dealing with it, but its just you dont get time to draw breath and come to terms with it. ....everything is about cancer now. Just saw the McMillan advert on TV and it is so true. Will keep you all informed how it goes. Thanks for all your support. Netty xx

Hi Netty, unfortunately the beginning is always a blur and a whirlwind for many of us and the new cancer world takes a bit of getting used to.  Being telephoned with appointments is normal ish for cancer patients as they have to fit you in very quickly with new guidelines.  They always seem to have emergency slots available for short notice bookings.

the adverts on the telly stand out so much more once you have been diagnosed.  I dont think I really noticed them before but am quite amazed now how often I see them on telly.  I was diagnosed in January when Jade was in the paper everyday and they were advetising the free prescriptions for all cancer patients.  i wouldnt have notice it the week before.

I hope the sugery goes well and the percentage of cure is so high you have to go for it.

keep us posted and good luck with everything

    take care

    Thanks Joanne,

My dad didn't cope well today at all, he hated seeing all the other patients who are currently in treatment, some with wigs on and all looking very pale and unwell, my mum and I were chatting away to everyone and asking them all their stories but he just sat staring at the floor, not sure how he is going to deal with it all.

I have to admit I am not looking forward to tomorrow, we meet the consultant and he will no doubt tell us what they plan to do.

How are you doing?   What stage of treatment are you at?  Oh, guess I should look at your profile!

    Take care and thanks again,

    Love Netty xx
