Pleased but apprehensive.

1 minute read time.

Have been for my pre chemo assesssment today. Asked me if I wanted to start this Wednesday? Hell Yeah!!!!!

Had an ECG, (with unshaved legs, whoops!!) and bloods taken. I have the most fantastic veins so hopefully getting the poison into me won't be a problem.

Lots of information to take in at once, took my sister with me as I would rather have her come and digest the information with me than my hubby, (straight in one ear and out the other.) Warned about lots of side affects, which am told will probably not happen, but am being stocked up with half of the pharmacy just in case!!

I suffered terribly with morning sickness so have been told (not by chemo nurses) that I will probably more prone to chemo sickness. Something to look forward to then, NOT!!!

My hubby wants to come with me for the first chemo, even though he hates hospitals, as he feels it is the only thing he can practically do to help me.

Think I will blitz the house tomorrow in case I take to my sick bed with all these awful side affects?? I am pleased that things are moving so quickly but am understandably very apprehensive as I don't know what to expect.

Think I will expect the worst, then if it is better than I anticipated surely that is a bonus.

Take care, hope everyone is as well as can be expected. Take care. Love and hugs, Debbie. xx

  • make sure you get your prescription exemption card that way all your meds are free.

they can do lots now to manage the side effects but you have to tell them so make sure you do if you suffer, as they can ajust the meds to help.

I take apprepetant for anti sickness and its great. never been sick since.

good luck on your journey and seek all the help you need

debbie -Sounds like you have got yourself straight with this. I'm the equivalent of your sister by the sounds of it & I have been going with mine to the chemo sessions (her last one tomorrow & have been replaced by her mate for a break). They used to call me in after the needlework had been done, but I've kind of got used to it now. Do you know which chemo. you are having ? Let your husbad go with you as he should realise what this is like and ask questions as well as what to do / watch out for. If you keep the attitude up you have now then that's all the better for you. My sister keeps a record of symptons etc & these are catered for each time she has a review - she has been a textbook case & had every sympton going on Tax. Any side effects you have will probably be at there worst 4-5 days after chemo so plan this as your pamper days (if you get my drift).

best wishes to you, jewels x

  • Best of luck with the chemo Debbie. What sort of chemo are you having and how many.

I took a bowl up to bed with me the first nite after chemo but was not sick at all through all the treatments.

Have my fingers crossed that you will be the same.

    Love

Hi Debbie, just read your blog.  Good luck for wednesday you can do it.  Just take it day to day that is what I did and got through.  Take everything they offer you and tell them if things are not right and they will change for you.  keep your pecker up and definately take your husband as he needs to know and will have questions as well and will take things in that you do not.  good luck.  Belinda xx

I was really nauceous when pregnant but haven't been too bad at all with chemo. I was told to take all the anti-sickness meds before any symptoms. Apparently it's easier to control if you take the tablets before anything starts. It appears to have worked for me,

    Good luck for Wednesday
