It's 200 days today since I finished chemotherapy and last week I had my second 12 week post chemo review. I'm delighted to say all blood test results were normal, and in particular my PSA remains undetectable.
The only significant chemo side effect remaining concerns fingernails, which have now almost grown back. I still experience discomfort in some, mainly thumbs and middle fingers where the nails have yet to full regrow, and generally all fingertips still have a feeling somewhere between hurting and numbness when touched. I know it sounds strange, but there's no better way I can think of to describe it.
Other than that, prostap and darolutamide long term treatment continues and I generally feel mild fatigue, muscle weakness and mild mood swings - as well as I just don't feel like the old me anymore. However, this is a small price to pay in the circumstances and I am grateful for the treatment and care I continue to receive.
I think it's probably appropriate to conclude this blog for now. I continue to hope for good news every 12 weeks so will keep quiet unless something comes unstuck.
Currently in the Canries to celebrate - the latest in travel plans to take maximum advantage of my good fortune for now, long may it last.
I wish everyone following this treatment the very best for a successful and sustained outcome.
Derek.
