    Hello, Porchiajeff,

I know how scary surgery is. I had op to remove a 3cm brain tumour on 10 March - no choice as radiotherapy alone would not have worked.

Brain surgery seemed a lot scarier than any other surgery, as you can imagine, but here I am, large as life & with a lot of damage to do yet!

I have a liver tumour which is inoperable, but under control for the moment. If they could remove it, I personally would go for it, without a doubt.

Any surgery is personal & a big decision. You can only be guided by your doctors & surgeon, then decide based on the options available.

My thoughts & prayers are with you.

    Love

  • My husband had a large bowel tumour removed on the 22nd April last year, he had secondaries on both lobes of the liver, the tumour was a stage 4. He then starts chemo, oxaliplatin and 5fu, 6 cycles in June, finished in Sept. In Oct he had liver surgery, they removed two large lesions on the left and the one on the right had disappeared......................so we thought! A scan 6 weeks later revealed the 3rd lesion, so in Jan he went back to have it burnt away, only to wake up and be told they had found 4 more! Two days later he was back in, and they completely removed the right side of his liver. That was 10 weeks ago, the liver has completely regenerated and is functioning normally. He is now on another three months of chemo, and its fingers x`d this will be his last, although the primary was a stage 4, we have been told by the oncologist and liver surgeon that 40% of patients with liver secs will survive, so why shouldn`t we be one of them? Good luck!

    sorry for only replying now.

thank you so much.  i went for my 8th chemo yesterday.  i still have one to do and then my op.  they going to do colon and one side of liver first.  2 weeks in hospital, a month off chemo, then 1 cycle of chemo.  if i recover quick, God willing, the next op on the other side of the liver.  the fact that i'm going off chemo, is a bit scary.  asked dr what is the chances of spreading, and the answer was yes, possible.  i decided to go forward and hope for the best.  i believe everything will turn out good. i want to be one of the 40% survivors!!..   THANK YOU

keep well and best wishes to you and family

I have been away with my sister and am now getting ready to go with my husband for the right side of his liver to be removed. It is about 2 hours away and I will be staying in a hotel by the hospital.

My scans for chest, abdomen and pelvis were clear but I still have one more for something I have on my brain, they think it is benign though.

Yes, we are all getting there gradually and everything will be OK,
