New Job at hospital: Fantastic week

1 minute read time.

Hi Guys Hope you are all doing well,

Well I have finished week 1 and although i haven't had any direct patient  contact yet i have really enjoyed it. I have learnt how to do ob's and SAT's, oxygen, test for  blood glucose, match for transfusions and lots more.

I nearly had a moment yesterday as during a conflict resolution lecture i had to do a role play exercise where my lecturer asked me to go up to the front infront of everyone and basically read through the notes and act out the senario with him. Basically i had been told mum had cancer and consultant hadn't given enough  info etc. It was a little close to home (what with dad) it felt like my head was shaking and was going to explode but guess what....... i did it, i was supposed to get frustrated and when i did that was kind of real lol. But ok first test done.

I start on my ward which is D15 Renal and General medicine. I am going to be doing for the rest of the month long days which is 07.45 - 20.15, which will be hard but it means i only have to complete 3 of these shifts to do my hours so thats 4 days off a week!!!  My sister on the ward is just lovely and very friendly, but she says is is a very busy and challenging ward.

So i have singed up to complete my NVQ , then i can apply to my trust via my line manager for secondment so that i can start my degree....wooooh one day at a time i think. I will just concentrate on the job in hand til after christmas.

All in all i'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks for everyones messages of support this week. (((hugs))))

I know my Dad will be proud!!!
