punch biopsy

1 minute read time.
Well, I'm back now from the hospital after having a 'punch biopsy'. Another 'suspect' mole has been found on my OTHER leg, near the donor site for the skin graft. I now have a 6mm hole in my thigh held together with two stitches. Now the wait for the results (could be 2 weeks although marked urgent!). If it IS melanoma then once again a wide local excision but I have made it clear that I will NOT go back to the other hospital. The Cancer Specialist Nurse said she hoped a skin graft would not be needed as there was more flesh available to bring it together (only time I'm happy to have large thighs lol). Would you believe it, I got an electric shock off the cable for the cauterising equipment! It frightened the life out of the Nurse and she couldn't see why it had happened. She turned it on again and her assistant got a shock as well! It had been working ok all morning, and when she first started using it on me, and then zap! I seem to have this effect on electrical stuff lol! I have developed a stinking cold over the last few days so am going for a lie down to recover. Take care pheonix xxx

It sounds absolutely nuts, but it is something I tell myself every time I have to wait.  Maybe I'm in cloud cuckoo land, but if I have to wait, it just means nothing can happen until the results are known.

When I had seen the surgeon, on 14 August, I had to have a CT scan, a colonoscopy and a wait until 14 September when he would give me a date for the op.  "So, I said, when will the op be?" I asked (it was a Friday).  "Tomorrow if you like" he said.  Right comedian my surgeon.  In the end, it was on 25th September.  I kept telling myself that he would take it all away anyway, so not to worry, then started getting pains in the area (completely ignoring the pains I had had when I was in denial back in June).  I just told myself to shut up and wait patiently.

I wasn't always strong minded.  I couldn't pass my driving test, so went to a policeman friend for hypnosis.  It worked, and I passed the test, then went to university and got a degree.  Complete quack my friend.  Didn't know when to stop!

    Good luck with the biopsy.

    love

Holy Zap Batman!  What a weird occurrence Phoenix!  Anyway, so sorry you have to wait 2 weeks for results, but I hope that they are definitive.  None of this vague namby pamby stuff, AND I hope that it is nothing, nothing, nothing!  WHEW!  Close one!  Best, Lori
