Follow up appt

1 minute read time.
This afternoon I have my follow-up appt at the hospital with the Plastic Surgeon re my wide local excision and skin graft. I really do not want to see this man as he was SO rude at my first appt with him and as it was his registrar who actually DID the operation I see no point in seeing this man! I'm very happy to report though that the graft has taken well and looking very healthy and almost healed. I saw my Practice Nurse on Tues and she said she didn't need to see me anymore, that I just needed a dry dressing after this week which I could do myself (depending on what the Consultant said today). She was concerned at my swollen foot/lower leg and told me that my GP has now referred me to the Lymphoedema clinic at the local Hospice (just happens to be where it's based!). I have been given another month's sick certificate but hopefully that should be it. I actually got into my car and drove to the local garage to put petrol in it after ten weeks! Luckily I felt no strain on my ankle. My biggest problem though is not being able to wear shoes, my right foot is too swollen to slip into anything other than Croc's lol. I have been invited to my friend's birthday party tomorrow and I have planned the outfit but nothing goes with Croc's! Oh well, I'm just thankful that I am now well enough to go. Hi Phoenix,

Glad your graft is OK. Shame about the swelling in your legs but what's wrong with crocs is what I want to know! Could be quite trendy if you wear them with a long skirt and striped socks! Or, as my mum always used to say when I was being vain, 'Who's going to be looking at you?'

    Best wishes, Shelagh

LOL Shelagh, the idea of me in long stripey socks is very funny! Well, I'm back from the hospital and pleased to say I didn't have to see the Consultant (although he WAS there because I saw him). I saw a lovely young Registrar who was a bit concerned about a dark mark in the middle of the graft (where the original MM had been). He said that sometimes the MM comes back in the same place but said he will just keep an eye on it to see if it changes.  Thankfully he's referring me back to my lovely Skin Consultant! The only 'painful' part of today was I had to drop my trousers so he could have grope in my groin lol.  I said if I had known I would have worn my "appt dress"! Next week it's the appt with Lead Cancer Nurse (but told today that she's off sick at the moment).

    Take care
