Help

Calling all cancer victims to help. Please go to blog on cancer research uks website about refusal of drugs for kidney cancer. NICE is not fit for the purpose. Its inconsistency and cold hearted refusal of not giving cancer patients the drugs they deserve has got to stop. Please add weight by requesting we get rid of NICE, and put in place an organisation that works. We want an organisation that supports patients and one that is fair and just. One that also puts pressure on these drug companies to stop their greed and an organisation which is creative enough to get money elsewhere if the NHS cant/wont pay for the cost. Thanks OLDHAMER

I so agree with you.  NICE don't do their own research.  They just read the research on the drugs they are offered.  Not all the research data is offered.  Only the data giving a favourable outcome is available.

They are much slower than the Scottish organisation.

They were originally intended to check drugs for effectiveness, persuade doctors to use generic versions if they were equally effective, and to burst pretentious claims by the drug companies.  Instead of which, they are allowing Novo Nordisk to charge 3 times the cost of animal insulin to the NHS.  OK, so some patients are better on "Human insulin" but a lot of people have had their drugs changed without being offered a choice.

Drug companies deliberately design drug administrative systems only to work with their product, and NICE hasn't said a word about it.  They have never tested GM insulin or asked patients for their permission to administer a drug type that the whole of the nation, (about 92% of respondents) refused in food.

NICE refuse proper drugs at the right time, and are duplicating the work of the Safety of Drugs people.  They pass for prescription, drugs not yet declared safe, and refuse safe drugs to people with no other option.

Compared with their initial remit, they fail on many levels, and I am disappointed with an organisation that should have done a very good job and cut our national drug bill down to size.

It was only with the appearance of dangerous bacterial antibiotic resistant disorders that they started telling doctors not to prescribe antibiotics for viral infections, and not a word about them being used widely by feed companies in growth promoter animal feed.

They should be also monitoring Vetinerary medicine, except that for some reason, there isn't a problem with that.  Vets being qualified to treat all animals, including humans.

I agree that a better body than NICE should be doing what they are supposed to be doing.  Say doubling the size of the medicine safety organisation, with the remit to ensure that every form of serious illness has an agreed therapy that stands a chance of alleviating the illness.

Actually, the fact that the Government hardly funds any sensible research, means that nearly all research is done with a commercial end in view.  Proper scientists are virtually forced by lack of funding to rubber stamp some dodgy research.  Just to keep their departments going until someone with sense and compassion is prepared to fund genuine improvements in Health care.
