money for carers

Less than one minute read time.
hi all hope you are all fine. anyway some time ago i went to our local neighbour hood office and i was informed about a one off payment the carer could claim for breaks & holidays & other services the carer thought they might be able to buy with payment to help them relieve stress & relax. it was paid by the council so ido not know if the scheme is the same for all councils it could be worth asking about in your area. it was called carers grant and i got £250. so get out there and ask people regards paulo

People could apply for £250 for a holiday, and for a certain amount to replace appliances in the house, so if your fridge or oven broke, you could have a grant for a new one.  This was 2007. so they may have changed the rule.  I have a dim memory of the appliance one being available alternate years, or you could have an appliance one year and a holiday the next.  So ask, but don't expect it to happen straightaway.  Available to old people or disabled.  Carers of.  Ask, and you'll get the up to date information.
