Has anyone got any advise for me!

Less than one minute read time.
Hi I am new to this and don't know whether I am doing it right but I will carry on anyway. I was diagnosed with Breast cancer in may this year and had a lumpectomy in june. I am know having FEC chemo I had my first dose 15th july and my next dose is tomorrow and I am dreading it. I was really sick after my first lot and had to go back to the hospital to have some different drugs and be rehydrated. I would like to hear other peoples experience of FEC and if you have any advise to help me through the next 5 cycles I would be very grateful.

    Hi Princess Fiona,

Thank you very much for your advise, I had my second lot of chemo yesterday and so far so good I am not half as bad as I was with the first cycle other than the tiredness which I am finding hard not to fight I am sleeping more than I am awake at the moment.  Do you have any advise on what to drink everything taste awlful and I am having problems drinking as much as I should I have tried fruit smoothie, ice lollies and various squash drinks.

Do you have to have herceptin as well after your chemo and other drugs? I have been told by my oncologist that I will have herceptin for 12 months and arimadex for 5 years.

I wish you luch with your treatment and once again thank you for your advise.  Pam xxx

    Hi All,

Thank you very much for all your advise, I had my second chemo yesterday and so far not too bad I have had some more anti sickness meds and have managed to tolerate so far (thank goodness!)  I am feeling very tired but have a very supportive husband and family who are looking after me very well.

Luna I have got a hickman line fitted because my veins are not very good to access I care for it myself at home saves me going back to hospital more than I need, however there are lots of things you cannot do whilst you have one on these lines in such as swimming and having a bath.

I hope you are all ok with your treatments and I wish you all the best of luck and once again thank you for help and support it is very much needed at the moment. Pam xx

    Hi Pam,

I still struggle to find the "right" drink to quench my thirst.  Water doesn't work, but I have tried coke, tonic water, ginger ale, orange & pineapple squash or Ribena seem to work at the moment.  Or Milk!  I am drinking gallons of milk, not sure whether I should as some people say you should stay away from dairy but it has been the only thing - apart from Champagne - that I have been able to drink constantly.

Hope this helps, but really the only thing is to try to listen to what your body is telling you.  It has to be right for you.  I know other people swear by green tea etc but I never liked green tea so haven't tried it.

My veins are starting to go hard so I might be coming back to you for advice on lines etc as I'm not sure the remaining veins will cope with three more chemo sessions!

Anyway good luck, and learn to enjoy the relaxing
