This one is about me

1 minute read time.

Oh, so J had his latest consultant check up. His bloods were fine except his marker for jaundice was up. We are to watch for him turning yellow, but it is a marker that can go up if there is a trauma taking blood (isn't there always?!) so we aren't to worry too much. His consultant thought the rash looked like ringworm too and said he should see his GP but call him again if it spreads. So there you go.

But this time i want to write about me. When J started treatment in July 2014 he was told that he might get constipated. He didn't. But i did. Immediately. I thought it was IBS and stress related but it hasn't gone. I have pains in my left side most of the time and trouble with my bowels. When J got into remission in Jan 2015 I finally went to the doctors. The doctor did blood tests and found that I'm anaemic. Because my pain eases when I have my period he thought it was a gynae problem and I was sent for an ultrasound. It was clear. I was given iron tablets and sent away. The iron perked me up but by Sept 2015 I was feeling crap again. January 2016 I went back to the doc. And yes I was anaemic again. More tablets were prescribed. This time he said he'd send me for a colonoscopy. I waited and waited until eventually i got a call from my gp to say the bowel consultant didn't want to put me through it and they were recommending i went for another ultrasound. I went on Friday. "You won't find anything" I cheerfully told the sonographer, "I think it's a bowel issue." Hmm. Well she did find something. I have a cyst on my left ovary and it's not a normal clear one. She said she wasn't worried but she was recommending i be referred to gynae. OK fine. Except today 3 days later i get a call from the hospital saying i've been referred under the 2 week rule to see the gynae consultant. My appointment is Tuesday. Apparently my GP had decided this and had written to tell me but the hospital got to me first. I am beyond shocked. If anyone ever didn't want to be referred under the two week rule it is me...
