Hey up,
Well it's been a good summer here. We took the holiday that we'd had to cancel last year and had an amazing time in the beautiful sunshine. J also had loads of holidays to take off work after accruing them when he was ill last year, so lots of fun was had with the boys.
Today we have been for his third three month check up. Up until a couple of days ago I had no concerns about it. He looks fine and has been getting a lot less tired. Symptoms I've been mildly concerned about are a flush every time he drinks alcohol and a very gurgly sounding belly. However, he's also had another one that he didn't want to tell me about. He told me two days before his appointment that he has a pain in his diaphragm like heartburn but a bit different as it's there constantly rather than coming and going; and he's had it for a fortnight and its been getting worse. So we went to see the consultant today and the good news is that his bloods are all really good. The bad is that the consultant was worried about the pain. J is to take heartburn medicine for a week and then ring. If no improvements he will have to have a CT scan or a gastroscopy.
I'm a bit alarmed because I can see that J thinks that it is something and he is normally Mr Positive. He has put on a fair bit of weight in his tummy and I said it could be that causing the heartburn. He said that he has been over-eating in order not to lose weight because losing weight was a symptom last time. I know that makes no sense at all, but I was so sad. It messes with your mind this business :-(
