The general state of things

1 minute read time.

It''s a month since I last wrote, so I'd better update on the current state of decrepitude of mine and J's failing 40 year old bodies.

So, first things first. Last time I wrote I was being carted off to the rapid access gynae clinic over my problematic left ovary. I'm happy to report that it was an "incorrect referral" according to the (quite cross) doctor I saw. My cyst is not the worrisome sort. I also have a fibroid, but again it is nothing to be concerned with at this moment in time. I am to be scanned again in 3 months. The doctor didn't think the cyst or fibroid should cause me the pain and constipation, but he didn't seem to want to talk about the pain and constipation, so I am still without answers. But hey ho, for now, I am highly relieved.

J's still in limbo. His bloods are being taken again tonight to see if all ok after the last raised bil-something-to-do-with-jaundice marker wasn't right.

He also still has the ring wormesque circular rash on his shin. It didn't clear up with Daktarin so, as suggested by his consultant, he saw his GP, who did a scraping and sent it for tests. J finally heard last week that it isn't fungal, so now he is being referred to dermatology.   We are mildly concerned given that a similar unusual rash on his forearms was the first sign of his original hodgkins. He’s had a funny few weeks. He’s had a chesty cough and has felt crappy and not able to do much training for his big bike ride. Sometimes we have both suspected that things aren’t right. But then other times he’s been grand. Like now. He’s pretty grand now, so maybe it’s just a weird rash, and that’s it - end of. Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem like we will be finding out any time soon, so we’re doing our best to ignore. We’re flying off on holibobs in 6 sleeps, to the place I was about to book when J was first diagnosed. It can all be dealt with when we get back!
