I successfully fitted in treatment and travel this week. Bloods on Monday, then trips to London and Belgium, coming back late last night on the Eurostar just in time for Friday treatment! The private healthcare is a huge benefit in that I can be pretty flexible on asking for specific times for treatments and they are amazingly supportive of my somewhat crazy requests.
My veins had shrunk to the size of a thread this morning so I sat with my hand in a bucket of water for 15 mins to resurrect them sufficiently for the nurse to get the cannula in. When she did I experienced the most unusual sensation. The saline flush and the zoledronic acid had been refrigerated and I could feel the liquid travelling up inside my arm - most weird. Well, after 20 mins of this my arm was really uncomfortable and cold, my hand was numb and I had a migraine - which may or may not be related……who knows?
One afternoon nap (yes really) later I feel much better but am worried that the flu like effects I had last time will hit again tomorrow. Let's see! I had to book my next session for November, feels very strange to be planning treatment so far in advance.
