Well, dare I say it, that wasn't so bad. In fact I feel a bit of a fraud as I am sure I could easily have worked this week.
Within 24hours of surgery I was up and about, not feeling tired or sick or groggy and just using paracetamol to keep the pain at bay.
Within 48hours of surgery I had walked 10,000 steps a day, had stopped the painkillers and had been out for a socially distant lunch in a quiet outdoor cafe.
So here I am, 5 days on, still diligently wearing the compression socks, keeping the dressing dry, wearing a bra 24/7, trying hard not to lift or stretch, but doing my normal amount of exercise and wondering how on earth I am going to occupy myself for the coming 4 weeks as that is what I laws advised to plan off work to recover?
But as we are still shielding, or st least trying to keep away from others as much as possible, we're making the most of the sunny weather and enjoying good food and wine at home…..why not!
Let's just hope it is all healing nicely under the dressing and, more importantly, the margins come back clear. It's another 2 weeks of waiting for results!
