Needles and pins, pins and needles…..either way, there's been an annoying tingling, fizzing, sometimes slightly painful and very intermittent “thing” going on in my upper outer thigh. As I've said before, every twinge causes a colossal panic, so this time I've gone though a number of stages:
1. Ignore it, it will go away.
2. I've been walking too much, standing too long, sitting awkwardly. Ignore it, it will go away.
3. Waken at 2am in blind panic that it's metastasis. 2 sleepless nights. Send panic text message to oncologist.
4. No response from oncologist (or her secretary) so consult Dr Google - reputable websites only!
5.Self diagnose something completely random. Go back to ignoring it.
6. 6 weeks of ignoring it, it hasn't gone away, get appointment with GP.
Actually the GP was great and thinks it is same something completely random that I found in my googling (all is not lost) and that I may well have Meralgia Paresthetica, but I should get a scan as a precaution to double check it isn't anything else, but it's not urgent and I should do some stretching exercises, which I duly start until I can sort out a scan!
