Last week I had the pleasure of attending a work conference at a resort near Dubrovnik. Hubby came along for the fun of a week in the sun and our daughter clearly had FOMO and took a last minute flight for the weekend.
Croatia is a wonderful country, Dubrovnik an amazing city, but anyone who visited will know that it probably has more stairs and steps than the rest of Europe put together! I couldn't actually decide if the compete breathlessness of going up, which would be great for losing weight, was better or worse than the jarring knee on every downwards step! And as for my calf muscles……..agony!
The side effects of having no estrogen in your body is that there's no “oil” to ease the joints. I seem to manage fine when I do an average amount of activity, but doing too much (back to that weight loss challenge) results in achy knees and hip pains.
So I'm back, having averaged 14,000+ steps a day for the week, and an impressive 19,000 on one day, with a slight tan, a happy heart and very achy knees!
