Every November our global team meets for a week. It's alway the same week, always my birthday and can be anywhere in the world. Given we haven't actually seen each other as a team for precisely 2 years, the boss decides Florida is the perfect team meeting location.
This raises a number of questions for me:
1. Will I have recovered from radiotherapy? (More or less)
2. Can I move the 3 weekly injection that is due that week? (Absolutely)
3. Does my oncologist think I am a complete nutcase to be contemplating a 10 hour flight? (Definitely, but she's very supportive nevertheless)
4. Can I even get travel insurance as I don't fancy going to the US without it? (Yes, thank you Staysure)
5. Will Biden Open the borders? (Just in time)
I fully admit that a long haul flight would not have been first choice, but I have way too much “fear of missing out” to even consider not going so what better than to take a week's holiday and enjoy all the Miami and the Florida Keys has to offer.
So, equipped with a stash of antibiotics just in case my seroma decides to host an infection and a couple of bottles of Factor 50, here I am. It feels weirdly normal to be travelling again and I am sure the dose of Vit D has done me the power of good.
