Breast Cancer Women's Association, Malaysia

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit BCWA in Kuala Lumpur. I was there with work and my local colleagues had done some fund raising for this charity and arranged the handover of these funds to coincide with my visit.

Cancer remains a taboo subject in much of Malaysia culture. Many people are unaware of the risks, reluctant to have things checked out and fearful that they will be ostracised by their families after a diagnosis. BCWA seek to educate on a general basis and also provide specific support and a network for breast cancer patients.

It was fascinating to talk to both staff and volunteers, learn about the challenges they face and the amazing work they do. I felt very privileged to be able to share my story and so grateful to our team in Malaysia for choosing this as their charity of choice.
