My Mother is about to begin the second treatment for liver cancer. The previous chemo didn't have any impact so she will take a new coctail plus avastin to boost its effectiveness.
Can anyone out there advise or who has been through a similar experience? we are nervous as the first chemo had no effect. The Doctors want to operate but must first reduce the size of the growths that are scattered about over the surface of the liver. They orignally looked to be in one corner. However, an inspection during an operation to remove another cancer from a 30cm section of the intestine showed that it will be too dangerous without treatment first.
We are a little confused with the NHS who do not list avastin on their drugs. It is however approved and in use eleswhere and is said to be effective, improve the chances. We therefore go private and wonder whether anyone else has had a similar experience out there.
