I have had more hospital appointments in the last 8 weeks than in my previous 52 years 40 weeks.
And last Saturday I had my first Covid 19 test, which did make my eyes water I must say. (It’s the nose swab..jeez)
That was prep for another rigid cystoscopy on Monday (8 June 2020).
I got to Charing Cross at 07:30 and was first man in, for an operation to let surgeons know if I can have options 1 or 2.
(reminder… 1 is bag, 2 is neo (new) bladder
In recovery room at 09:30, and ward by 10:00. Perfect, so that’s me home by 14:00 then.
But, I recited my new Cancer mantra “prepare for the worst, hope for the best”
And it proved true again as I could not wee after the op and I needed to wee lots to prove they hadn’t damaged my bladder (not that I care of course!)
Noon, 2pm, 4pm… hardly a drop of wee in my bottle, even though I was glugging tea and water.
Now I’m in a dilemma because nurse (great guy called Jamie) says if I drink too much and they then have to catheterise me it will be very painful.
Well, most nurses say stuff like “it’ll scratch” or “man up”, so Jamie’s words sounds like it will indeed be painful.
Slowed down on the drinking and calmed down a bit and just about convinced Jamie to let me out at 20:00.
Home at 21:00 and wait for Thursday for results.
