Taxotere

Less than one minute read time.

Can anyone tell me their effects of Taxotere, I have had 2 FEC so far and 1 more to go before starting T. Is t the same? worse? better? Not been too bad on FEC tiredness is the worse thing, and losing my hair before the 2nd session.

Thanks

    Hi

I recently finished a course of 4 ec and 3 taxotere. I also faired quite well on the ec with just the tiredness and a few hiccups along the way. I personally found the taxotere much more gruelling. I suffered severe joint pain though this was eased with the right combination of pain relief, an acid taste in my gullet which nothing took away, numbness to feet and hands and peeling skin. You may get, all, some or none of these, let's hope for none! Just remember whatever you get your team can usually give you something to ease it so never suffer in silence. I think also by the time you get to the taxotere you're also suffering the cumalative effect of the previous chemos. But you will find the strength to battle through, just listen to your body, rest when you need to and most of all be kind to yourself.

Wishing you well with your treatment

    Hugs Maxine

Hi, I had 8 fec 100 in 2008 and 6 taxotere recently finished in august of this year, everyone reacts differently, and both chemo's have different strengths.....with the fec I had a lot of nausea, with tax I had none, with fec I had aches and pains and very fatigued, with the tax, I have numbness, tingling, and aches in my hands and feet, I also lost 3 toe nails which is a common side effect, I did at one stage think I was losing a lot more, but I kept my finger and toe nails very short and was very careful with them, and although they "lifted" quite a bit and some went black I managed to keep them, you can also get cold and flu symptoms, which I was told was my body trying to fight the effects of the taxotere, I wouldn't say one was any worse than the other, just different, but at the end of it all, ( and it does end) if they do the job, it's DEFINATELY worth it......

    CHEMO CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE

COURAGE...... IS WHEN YOUR SCARED TO

    DEATH.......BUT YOU SADDLE UP ANYWAY

    Good luck

Hi, everyone is different, i was like you with fec, not too bad just tiredness and sick feeling but with tax it hit me harder, taste buds went and could only stand strawberry milkshake so i mixed that with complan strawberry meal replacement from tescos, also the nails were very tender, quite bad diahorrea so make sure you get something from hospital or buy immodium as i could not have done without it. My friend who went through the same as me found FEC really hard and tax was not a problem for her! Strange how it can effects people totally differently.

    Good luck Kaz x
