Why so long?

Less than one minute read time.

My dad hasnt got long left and wants to leave hospital and go home to spend his remaining time with his family. the doctors have told him he can go home but its taking ages to set up the care, nurses and equipment before he can go home. Why is it taking so long?

    Hi

Can I ask if you have Mac involvement within the hospital os the help of the palliative care team? These fantastic people do this sort of thing every day and can usually 'kick butt' and get things done quicker than just ward staff and OT's. It can take a couple of days to get beds and things in place but please do not give up hope. Going home in these situations are not the same as a normal discharge, it's not just the bed there will be community nursing and other considerations to arrange. I sincerley hope that things get sorted for you soon but believe me you need the complete package to be arranged before discharge or it will make life so hard for you all. Please make sure you have all arrangements explained to you thoroughly too and you know what support is available.

Wishing you the very best of luck and sending strength and love.
