WordPress

1 minute read time.

Originally I joined this community to create a blog. I was a bit disappointed to find out there was no way to make it public. I wanted to share the information freely with friends and family (via Facebook).

The hospital have me a diary to fill in, but I thought that a bit dry. I also thought it a bit limiting, some diary entries would be longer than others.

Another motivation was based on the search I did for what to expect during my treatment. The doctors and nurses did a good job, but I was looking for something first hand from patients. My search found very little. The best I came across was stage II non-seminoma, good insight but not exactly the same treatment. I wanted to go public just to add to the knowledge put there.

So I decided a WordPress blog was the way to go. If you would like to read/follow please go to https://mytctreatment.wordpress.com.

My doctor has had a read and gave some good feedback. He said it was rare to hear the patient's side, especially after they leave hospital. He also said some cancers would benefit from extra publicity - I suspect men in general are a bit less open about these things. Of course that wasn't my motivation, but encouraging all the same. I would definitely encourage others to do the same, perhaps privately to start with?

Please do respond with comments or questions you may have, either here or on the public blog, on my treatment or about creating a blog.

    Hi J.A.B.E.,

Welcome to the Online Community and thanks for sharing your blog - some of our members may well find it really helpful to read about your experiences.

Just to let you know, content on this site is public, so you can share your blog here with anyone and they don't need to be logged in to read it. However, they do need to be logged in to post a comment, as blogs on this site are designed around the primary audience being other members of this community - so it may well be that WordPress works better for your purposes.

However, if you do feel like chatting to other people affected by cancer, this community is a great place to do that. I see that you've joined our Testicular cancer forum (Group) group - that's a really active and supportive group where you can ask questions and talk to others who've been through similar experiences.

All the best with your treatment.
