The all clear

1 minute read time.
Another day in Maga with the girls. We took a short stroll down the beach and chose to eat at Pirates Bar and Grill. We ordered food and sat talking amongst ourselves until my phone lit up with an incoming call from my dad. Expecting the usual, "How are you? Drinking plenty of water?" ... You could say I was over joyed to hear what he really had to say. He started by telling me the hospital had been in contact, then he took a long pause which I must admit left my heart racing.. Before telling me that I had been given the all clear. Soon after I received a message from my brother which read, "Just heard the best news ever" .. I couldn't of agreed with him more. All I could say after that was "I'm so happy, I'm so happy" and of course the girls were all over the moon for me, and with us being in Maga it was definitely a cause for celebration. We walked back up to the hotel, bought a round of drinks and sat beside the pool to celebrate the amazing results I'd been given. And of course I phoned everyone at home to share the special news. I am extremely lucky to of only had to endure two lots of surgery before given the all clear so quickly, but that does not mean that the warning to be careful in the sun and using sun beds does not remain vital. From this point on, it is still majorly important for me to be covered up in the sun at all times and to be careful. Every 3 months for the next 3 years, I will visit the hospital for check ups so that other moles on my body can be closely monitored and when that 3 years is up, the factor 50 and avoiding long lengths of time in the sun will still remain as Melanoma Skin Cancer can easily return after only a few minutes of foolishness. I hope the blogs I have posted have been helpful to others who have read them, and have also encouraged people to be a little more careful when enjoying the sun. My next blog will be posted after my first check up in September.
