Well the temp and BP are back down and things are looking much better again. What a roller coaster ride this is. The funny thing is that the chemo side-effects seemed OK... just fatigue really. It is the antibiotic that has been the trouble. Looking on the internet (not always a good idea I know!) ciprofloxicin is well known for these kinds of side effects but it is a great antibiotic used to treat Anthrax among other things. But there are alternatives and Sal is now going to try Levofloxicin next time and with a possible lower dose of doxorubicin next time it might leave her with at least some neutrophils.
OK, having said all this, I am trying to keep it all in perspective. Sal is going through an ordeal with all this but the treatment could potentially prevent a recurrence or secondaries so whatever the discomfort, providing she is safe and recovers, then from my perspective it is worth whatever it takes. Whether she feels that herself, with her having to actually go through it, only she can say. I believe she feels the same as me from our discussions but even I don't know her most very private thoughts.
