A drop of the Red Stuff

Less than one minute read time.

Sal is in hospital all day today receiving 2 units of blood. She has been breathless almost all the time since starting chemo and her Hb count was down to 9 at her last chemo bloods (normal is 12-16!). It is not that unusual for someone on chemo to need red cells, full blood or platelets so it isn't anything to be concerned about... it is just another full day at the hospital for Sal unfortunately.

Each unit takes about 3 hours so I expect her to be finished about 6pm. So far, her Hickman line is behaving so, so far, no needles.

We have been told that she may not feel the benefit for a few days but hopefully she will feel much better in a day or two.

Sal's really going through the mill with her treatment!  I do hope things settle down for her and you at some point and you can concentrate on getting better.   In any event, she's a lucky lady to have such a good strong dependable husband and I wish you both  all the best.  Ann xxx

Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes. I shall give Sal a gentle hug later today.

I agree that Sal is not having a good time with the treatment but many people have a lot worse so we are just trying to get on with it, keep thinking positive thoughts and looking forward to kicking this "c" in the teeth. All these effects sure means it is certainly working!!! If we didn't have any side-effects we would be worried it wasn't woking so it isn't so bad.

    Wishing you and Sal

All the best you both will go through rough times before they get better. But when this is all over it will be well worth it. Good Luck to you Both.

Take care and be safe Regards Sarsfield.
