biscuits and some tea

Less than one minute read time.

I just got mum into her nighty and to the toilet, she then decided she’d quite like a biscuit and some tea, I felt unbelievably happy at that, it seemed quite normal and like before. I’ve tucked her up and she was off to sleep very quickly.

GP is coming to see her tomorrow and it’s my nephews 3rd birthday and my sister is coming to the house with him so he can open his presents with mum, I shall take lots of photos and just hope mum feels less confused and tired so she can enjoy seeing her grandson.. Night x

Hi Sarah.  Just thought I'd welcome you to the site.  Your blog touched my heart as I am in a very similar position to you although my mum still has all her faculties about her.  She is 74 and has lived with me for the last 19 years.  I am an only child and am now caring for mum on my own and know how lonely and isolating that can be.  I know exactly what you mean about the occasions when things seem normal like they were before and how they make you so happy just to glimpse them even for a second.  I really hope your mum is well enough tomorrow to really enjoy her grandsons birthday.  Take care of yourself and keep blogging!  Caroline XX

    Hi Sarah,

I hope your mum gets to enjoy today with her grandson, My dad used to time his medication so that it all kicked in when i took my children over so that he was alert and not showing any pain.

You are doing a wonderful job of looking after your mum and i'm glad she enjoyed her biscuits and tea.

We are all here when you need to chat.

    Take care of YOU too!!!

Thank you Caroline, sarsfield  and Lucylee for all your comments and kindness. It is hard but I also know that I am amongst many who all have their own hard times and good times, I know it’s important to try not to let it all overcome me so often and so resoundingly. Thank you xx
