Seeing how confused mum was yesterday I was really apprehensive about going in today; worried that she would have deteriorated even further. She was much brighter and didn't seem to be confused at all although still groggy and weak. She was engaging in conversation and insisted I take her out for a cig (Sorry Anna, if you read this, only thing she enjoys so not going to take it away from her now). I tried to tell her she wasn't allowed but she was having none of it. Quite feisty and more like my mum!
After we'd been out and I got her back into her bedside chair she told me she thought she had got worse since she had been in there. I explained that she was a lot better today than she had been yesterday, although I didn't go into details of the absolute rubbish she had been talking. She said 'oh am I? That's good!'
Juliette, her named nurse, was not on yesterday and it was interesting that she was back in today and mum was in a clean nightie and looked very clean and comfortable. No food on her at all and Juliette told me she always sits with her and helps her with her food but she's not keen on the sandwiches and prefers ice cream and banana! I think Juliette may just be another angel! Unfortunately she can't be there 24/7.
I am hoping mum is still as bright when I go in tonight. I am taking her stew and dumplings as she is due to have another sandwich because she doesn't like the hot meals that were on the menu. I've told her I'm bringing the stew so I just hope she remembers.
